The Ransomware module covers topics on: what ransomware is and how it is delivered, ransomware's effect, minimizing the threat of ransomware, and reporting ransomware attacks.

Encryption ransomware is a specific type of malware that blocks access to your computer files until a ransom is paid, by encrypting, or locking them.Ransomware doesn’t just encrypt hard drives. It can also affect backup, flash, and cloud storage as well.

Ransomware was first spotted in 2013. Since then, its use has expanded rapidly, so it’s important that we understand how to detect and mitigate the threat.

The ransom is typically requested in bitcoin or other forms of digital currency. These forms of currency are difficult to track, which makes it harder to track down the attacker once the ransom has been paid.
