Personally Identifiable Information (PII) focuses on the laws and regulations that govern the protection of sensitive personal data, security measures that can be taken to protect the data, and the steps to take when reporting a data breech.
PII is, According to the Office of Management and Budget, PII is any information “which can be used to distinguish or trace an individual’s identity.” PII includes information like the individual’s name, email address, home address, or telephone number.

Sensitive PII includes any information that, if lost, stolen, or compromised, could result in inconvenience, embarrassment, harm, or unfairness to the individual, either by itself or when combined with another identifier.
